Stolen Fruit

Can you remember a time, when you were young, when the world was not what you thought?

That people were not who you thought they were?

Did it shatter your illusion?

Did you struggle to trust again?

I had several: some minor, some major. And while hard lessons to have learned, I am grateful for the knowledge behind the experience. However, at the time, gratitude would not be the word I would use to describe these situations.

Instead, I would have described them as: painful, earth-shattering, betrayal, confusing, and even shameful.

Some of the things we use through the Rite of Passage from childhood to adulthood: our innocence.

Wherever you are, sweet flower, I hope you are finding gratitude in the lessons of these rites of passage.
